Founded in 2018, METAXIS is a future-facing new media art festival that brings together visionary artists from around the world.
The festival presents innovative immersive exhibitions, large-scale projections, and public lectures that transform each venue into a space of reflection, wonder, and digital poetics.
Each edition explores relevant cultural and technological questions through bold curatorial statements and emotionally charged visual storytelling.

METAXIS IDENTITY 2024
BUDAPEST, Hungary, 30-31 august 2024
Theme: Explored how modern technology shaped personal and collective identity while driving the development of glocalization.
Artists: Featured 39 creators from around the world.

EARTH METAXIS 2022
The fifth METAXIS dedicated to planet Earth and arranged from May 14 to 21. In three cities and two countries. 14.05 - at Planetarium 1 in Saint Petersburg, the world’s largest planetarium, featuring a 37-meter-diameter dome. 20.05 - in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. 21.05 - in Yerevan, Armenia.
Theme: The festival explored the theme of cultural globalization, the
unification of different nationalities, and the uniting power of
contemporary art—highlighting that, ultimately, we all share one home:
planet Earth.
Main Program: Featured 12 full-dome artworks exploring Earth's beauty
and the interconnectedness of humanity.
SPACE METAXIS 2021
10.04 2021 at Planetarium 1 in Saint Petersburg, the world’s largest planetarium, featuring a 37-meter-diameter dome.
Theme: Explored contemporary visions of space and humanity’s place
within it through the fusion of art and technology.
Artists: Featured 17 creators from around the world.
Main Program: Showcased full-dome projects that blended mesmerizing
electronic music with highly aesthetic digital art, presented in the world’s
largest planetarium.
METAXIS 2020
METAXIS 10102020 consisted of two parts: techno artists meet up and media happening. It was held in the creative space of ′′ Lumier-Hall ′′ (Saint-Petersburg) - the largest projection museum in Russia. Curated by Anastasia Skabelkina.
TECHNO ARTISTS MEET UP. Speech by experts on current media art topics, 2 workshops, 2 lectures, discussion "New media - the avant-garde of art" and generative jam with a DJ.
MEDIA HAPPENING. A rich program of audiovisual lives: performances of artists with musicians from all over the world. CaoYuxi (NY), NaoWao (Tokyo), kaleidosdope (Nuremberg), Aleph 52, Rx Tx, Elina Zazulya, Grigory Gromov, Anastasiia Skabёlkina (SPb), Synchrone (Moscow).
METAXIS 2019
Chamber event of a special format, known in narrow circles. Media happening, which brought together the best representatives of the media art community of Saint Petersburg. The main focus of the event was on audiovisual lives, designed for "METAXIS . ART GATHERING".

METAXIS 2018 was open with a special format event - media happing, a holistic digital work, consisting of several parts, each of which is aimed at overcoming the boundaries between the artist and the viewer.
